The Los Angeles Lakers, led by LeBron James, are one of the NBA’s marquee events on Christmas Day. They are scheduled to play the Boston Celtics in the afternoon. James is no stranger to performing on Christmas. Every year since LeBron James joined the Lakers, they have played on Christmas Day. Previously, James spent Christmas with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat. Before the start of this year’s schedule, James took to social media to ask for the return of the NBA’s Christmas Day jerseys.
The last time the NBA released Christmas Day jerseys was in 2017. The NBA’s jersey contract with Adidas terminated that year, and Nike took over as the league’s jersey manufacturer. The NBA made Christmas jerseys for the first time in 2008, and they quickly became popular among players and fans.
When James and the Lakers enter the court against the Celtics this Christmas, they will be wearing their standard Lakers jerseys. In any event, the Lakers are aiming to get back on track after dropping four of their last five games since winning the preseason tournament. They are aiming to build on their impressive away win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
At the age of 39, James has had a tremendous season. He’s averaging 25.7 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 54.4 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from three points, and 73.9 percent from the free throw line.
