NBA superstars Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry met in New York City on Sunday after winning two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors in 2016 and 2017.
Durant, 34, hosted the joyful evening with Boardroom partner Rich Kleiman, while Curry, 34, relished the opportunity to catch up with his former teammate.
Other notable guests included Fabolous, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Gayle King of CBS, who interviewed Curry inside the party.
Guests at the star-studded dinner at The Nines were treated to wine from Curry’s personal collection as well as cocktails made with Cincoro tequila.
The NBA champions ate crudités, twice-baked potatoes with caviar, shrimp cocktail, Gnudi, burgers, and chocolate mousse for dinner.
Former NFL players Victor Cruz and Justin Tuck stopped by as well. Later that night, Tuck, 39, and former Yankees great CC Sabathia were “deep in conversation about business,” according to an attendee who saw the retired sportsmen mingling.
Curry and Durant won two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors before Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets.
Following Curry’s September interview with Rolling Stone, NBA fans speculated on the potential of Durant returning to Golden State.
“If you said, ‘Oh, KD’s coming back, and we’re going to play with him,'” Curry told the magazine.”Hell, yeah!” I’d say.
Seth Curry, the Golden State Warriors star’s brother and current Brooklyn Nets colleague, also joined by to celebrate the upcoming holidays.
Kleiman, 46, raised a glass to “connectivity and bringing people together,” as he and Durant prepare for a busy 2023 with Boardroom and other endeavors.
The Brooklyn Aces, a Major League Pickleball expansion franchise, was just revealed by the pair. Durant and Kleiman join sportsmen such as LeBron James and Tom Brady in claiming a place in the league.
Durant’s squad will begin competing in the MLP season in 2023. “Major League Pickleball is a league we are incredibly excited about,” said Kleiman, a self-described “avid pickleball player, and fan,” in a news release.
Kleiman and Durant’s 35V have stated that they are “committed to investing in the future of sports and emerging opportunities.” The creative partners “can’t wait to start building this team from the ground up.”
Major League Pickleball creator and CEO Steve Kuhn expressed delight that the NBA player is establishing a presence in the league. “Kevin Durant, Rich Kleiman, and 35V will be game changers for Major League Pickleball.” They provide not only a love of the game, but also unique experience to help us flourish.”
Durant is one of the NBA’s most formidable players — he’s a candidate for MVP this season — but the Nets star has dabbled in a few other sports and entertainment pursuits. He and Utah Jazz player Mike Conley were executive producers of Two Distant Strangers, a short film exposing police violence that won Best Live Action Short Film at the 93rd Academy Awards in 2020.
The Golden State Warriors play the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, but Durant will not play due to a recent injury.
