The Suns honored Chris Paul’s services to the team with a commemorative film before of his first game back in Phoenix since being traded.
The Footprint Center audience greeted Paul with applause.
In his pregame press conference today, Suns coach Frank Vogel heaped praise on Paul.
After being dealt to Phoenix from the Thunder in 2020, the future Hall of Famer helped the Suns reach new heights in his three seasons in the Valley. He had a significant role in transforming their future terrain into a desirable location for gamers.
In 194 regular-season games for Phoenix, Paul averaged 15.1 points and 9.5 assists. In Paul’s first season in the Valley (2020-21), the Suns made the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993. Paul is tied for second in Suns history in assists per game.
In the Bradley Beal deal, Paul was moved to the Washington Wizards. He was subsequently sent to the Warriors in exchange for a deal that included Jordan Poole.
Golden State’s 38-year-old Paul has been in and out of the starting lineup. With Draymond Green serving a five-game suspension, he has recently been a starter.
So far this season, Paul is averaging 9.8 points per game, 7.7 assists, and 1.7 steals.
After Deandre Ayton returned to Phoenix yesterday night, the Suns have shown a tribute video for the second night in a row.
