Kevin Durant carved his mark in the Suns’ history books by shattering a team record with his 12th consecutive game scoring 25 points or more in a contest against the Utah Jazz.
Durant has been a scoring powerhouse since the second game of the season, averaging an amazing 32.5 points per game. Surprisingly, more than half of his appearances concluded in him scoring at least 30 points.
Only Joel Embiid is averaging more points per game than KD this season, with a.5 point advantage.
However, it’s worth mentioning that Durant has a higher shooting percentage (52% vs. Embiid’s 50%), creating a strong case for KD to be the league’s greatest shooter.
The ability to get to the free throw line has also played a significant role in Durant’s high-scoring start to the season.
KD, who shows no signs of age, attacks the basket fearlessly, averaging an amazing 7.4 free throws per game, which leads all power forwards.
He is now on a streak of 27 straight free throws made.
When you combine Durant’s scoring ability, shooting efficiency, and ability to draw fouls, a compelling case can be made for him to be a front-runner in the MVP race early in the season.
