In the fourth quarter, the Los Angeles Lakers overpowered the comfortable Phoenix Suns. The Suns coast through the game with a comfortable lead until the third quarter, thanks to Kevin Durant’s historic game. It didn’t last long, though, as the LeBron James army took charge of the fourth quarter. Furthermore, the four-time NBA champion not only ruined KD’s historic day, but also shared a touching moment with his mother, Wanda Durant.
LeBron James expresses love moments after destroying KD’s epic day
Kevin Durant began the game on Thursday night 37 points shy of Houston Rockets icon Hakeem Olajuwon’s scoring record. While the stage was set, KD seized the opportunity and climbed to the 12th spot on the All-Time Leaders list. KD scored 39 points to surpass Olajuwon’s previous high of 26,946.
While everything was going well for the Suns, who had a 12-point advantage at the end of the third quarter, King James stepped up in the fourth quarter. He played the entire game and scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Ultimately leading the squad to a 100-95 victory over the Suns. James’ efforts prevented Slim Reaper from capping off his epic night with a victory.
He had a touching encounter with KD’s mother after the game. Wanda interrupted James’ post-game interview and gave him a big hug.
This isn’t the first time Wanda Durant has made a splash on the floor. Throughout KD’s career, she has had several amusing moments from courtside. Let’s locate one right now.
During the game, KD’s mother becomes animated
Wanda had a great interaction with PJ Tucker during the Eastern Conference semifinal game 7 between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets. Durant took a terrible fall after colliding with Tucker while attempting to grab a rebound ball. The referee instantly called foul, and KD walked to the free throw line, but Wanda on the courtside was not pleased. She continued yelling at Tucker for injuring her son.
Tucker turned to her side and said, “I love you,” to which Wanda responded, “I love you too,” leaving the commentators in stitches.
