LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns were quick to respond to a fan who questioned a photo of the two laughing during Friday’s in-season tournament game.
Following the Suns’ posting of a photo of Durant and James with the tagline “Respect,” a fan said that he disliked the “‘we all fiends’ [sic] laughing during the game.”
Durant was the first to answer, noting that “friends compete harder against one another,” and James responded with a shot of Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan laughing together during their NBA careers:
The Lakers trounced the Suns 122-119 on Friday to improve to 4-5 on the season, with James leading the way with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Durant had a similar performance, finishing with 38 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
The game on Friday was James’ second-highest-scoring game of the 2023-24 season, and Durant’s third-highest-scoring game of the season. They certainly brought out the best in each other, and the two will do so for the rest of the season.
They’ll meet again in Los Angeles on January 11.
