Not long after he expressed his disapproval of his speculated Nike (NYSE:NKE +0.95%) Kyrie 8 signature sneaker, Kyrie Irving has now released an announcement about his earlier remarks.
The Brooklyn Nets player commented earlier this week on a post by @k11kicks that revealed a leaked image of the Kyrie 8. “These are garbage, and I have nothing to do with the marketing or design of the upcoming #Kyrie8! I’m not even remotely involved with them! I apologize to all of my sneakerheads and ardent fans of the #KAI11 brand in advance, as Nike intends to release it regardless of what I say.
Irving stated, “When you’re building something great, there sometimes comes a point when you need to recalibrate and refocus to ensure everyone involved is aligned,” in an interview with Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. This is the location of Nike and the KAI11 brand. It was unjust to hold Nike or any individual responsible for this. That being said, in order to ensure that we get it properly, we are carefully working, reorganizing, and redesigning things together.
