LeBron James, 38, has recently accomplished a number of firsts. He is now attempting to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to their first NBA championship. However, despite his modest 34.5 career %, he may need to remind everyone that he is capable of getting hot from 3-point range.
James is channeling Steph Curry, widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time, in the NBA In-Season Tournament quarterfinals against the New Orleans Pelicans. According to Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell, the four-time MVP hit three consecutive long-range shots and scored 11 straight points to lead the Lakers to a commanding 11-3 lead.
His scoring spree had no bounds and even included a logo jumper.

The squad led 67-54 at halftime, with James scoring 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and dishing out four assists. Taurean Prince has also been on fire from long range, making 4-of-6 tries. Although Zion Williamson was perfect on the floor (9 points), no other Pelicans player reached double figures in the first 24 minutes.
LA should not be considered a favorite to win the NBA In-Season Tournament. Injuries to many key role players, as well as the need to stay fresh for an 82-game regular season and maybe a lengthy playoff run, made it difficult for the Lakers to go full throttle.
But here they are in Las Vegas, one win away from facing the burgeoning Indiana Pacers in the finals. LeBron James’ legacy is secure, but in his 21st season, he has the opportunity to join yet another select group.
