NBA superstar Kevin Durant has finally gotten some visible ink on his body, in the form of an image of the late great Tupac Shakur.
Finally, because Durant has been a “secretly” tattooed player for a long time. While most basketball stars get their tattoos in areas where we can all see them while they’re playing, Durant has kept all of his ink hidden beneath his jersey. When the former Oklahoma City Thunder forward removed his jersey, it was pretty surprising to find that he has an almost totally filled in torso.
Marcus Thompson II, a newspaper columnist, exposed the tattoo on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Thompson did not reveal the name of the tattoo artist who created the enormous picture. The tattoo was inspired by a photograph by Gary Reyes of the Oakland Tribune.
Durant has been the buzz of the NBA offseason after startling the world by signing with the Golden State Warriors after leaving the Thunder. He will be joining a squad that was already a juggernaut despite losing in the Finals, and his decision has enraged many fans. Perhaps he’s trying to win over Bay Area followers by honoring the local hip hop legend.
If you look closely at the tattoo, you’ll notice the instantly identifiable Wu Tang Clan logo directly underneath Tupac. This makes us question if a whole hip hop-based leg sleeve will be released in the future months. We’ll be watching to see what he gets tattooed next. Big deal, perhaps?
