On Saturday night, the Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Dallas Mavericks, and ‘The Greek Freak’ Giannis Antetokounmpo took it upon himself to remind the visitors that he’s one of the NBA’s developing all-time greats.
Giannis’ injury problems were discovered prior to the game. Jason Kidd, the Mavericks’ general manager, spoke candidly about the influence ‘The Greek Freak’ has on NBA games.
Giannis gave his best LeBron James and Tayshaun Prince impersonation with an incredible chase-down block on Mavericks forward Derrick Jones Jr. as the Bucks held a 55-48 lead over the stretch of the second quarter at the FiServ Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Shortly after, Antetokounmpo of the Bucks demonstrated his coast-to-coast handles and dunking abilities with a demoralizing move that left Kidd and the Mavericks speechless.
This season, Antetokounmpo has averaged 28.3 points and 9.5 rebounds. He is also averaging 4.1 assists per game and shooting over 60% from the field, demonstrating that he has what it takes to be the NBA’s top forward this season.
The Bucks are 8-4 on the new season, trailing the Sixers and Celtics in what has already become a crowded Eastern Conference.
Antetokounmp will need to continue his passionate play on both ends of the floor for the Bucks to live up to their potential, while Damian Lillard adjusts to his new role with the Eastern Conference challengers and recent NBA champs.
Lillard is averaging 24.6 points per game for the Milwaukee Bucks, his new team after being traded from the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason.
The Bucks led the Mavericks 60-58 at halftime, as the action heated up in Milwaukee.
