Last season, the Boston Celtics dropped three of four games versus the New York Knicks, but they’ve already made plans to change that in 2023-24.
With a 114-98 victory at TD Garden on Monday, Boston advanced to 2-0 against its Eastern Conference opponent this season. The Celtics won their third game in a row to improve to 8-2 on the season.
New York, which was missing RJ Barrett due to a migraine, lost its three-game winning streak and slipped to 5-5.
The Knicks had no answers for Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porziis in their first game of the season, as both players scored 30 points. This time around, Tatum had 35 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, while Porziis had 21 points and six rebounds against his previous team.
Jaylen Brown contributed 22 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Sam Hauser provided a spark off the bench with 12 points on 4-of-6 three-point shooting.
