During the first quarter of Brooklyn’s game against the visiting Los Angeles Clippers at Barclays Center on Wednesday night, Nets supporters screamed “Daryl Morey” in unison as James Harden took his free throws. Of course, Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers CEO did not get along during the former’s time in Philadelphia. It even went so far as Harden labeling Morey a “liar,” which seemed to have sealed his destiny in Philadelphia.
In any case, Harden has finally left Philadelphia thanks to a trade arranged by the Sixers and the Clippers.
Fans in Philadelphia are familiar enough with the James Harden saga to utilize it as a low-hanging fruit of material when attempting to get under the former NBA Most Valuable Player’s skin.
The Nets fans’ prank did not work, as Harden was able to sink both free throws after drawing a shooting foul from Brooklyn’s Cam Thomas. Harden has probably heard it all during his long NBA career, so he must have acquired a thick skin against such hostile fan behavior.
The Nets game is also Harden’s second in a Clippers uniform. Los Angeles suffered a 111-97 loss in Harden’s first game with the organization on Monday, as the Clippers were defeated by the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Harden scored 17 points, adding six assists, three rebounds, and a steal in 31 minutes of action in his debut game with LA (and first in the 2023-24 NBA season).
