Jimmy Butler battled mightily in the Miami Heat’s 119-111 loss to Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum.
This was a replay of the Eastern Conference Finals from last season, which Miami won in seven games after nearly blowing a 3-0 lead.
Butler, who was a postseason hero last year, vanished inside TD Garden on Friday night. The 34-year-old finished the game with 14 points on 3-11 shooting and five rebounds, the fewest of any starter.
Basketball fans chastised Butler for his terrible performance.
Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum had a strong home debut, holding off Miami in the fourth quarter. He had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists while shooting 50% from inside the arc.
The Celtics’ starters dominated the Heat the whole game, accounting for 111 of Boston’s 119 points.
Derrick White led the squad in scoring with 28, while Jrue Holiday contributed 17 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Boston improved to 2-0 on the year, while Miami dropped to 1-1.
