Kevin Durant, like other NBA players over the winter, is taking a well-deserved break. During Labor Day weekend, he is in Maui, enjoying the beach and trying a new watersport.
The defending Finals MVP was spotted surfing and was even photographed attempting to stand up on it by TMZ Sports. He even got an extra long board to fit his tall and lanky physique on, but he was unable to do so and could only sit on it.
He may not have excelled at his new activity, but the satisfaction he had while attempting it is what matters, as is the fact that he was able to relax with only a few weeks until the start of the Golden State Warriors training camp. Taking his mind off basketball for the time being may benefit him much, as it will help him to not only relax his body, but also refocus for the upcoming season.
He will return to work with his teammates in October as they begin their quest to defend the title they won last June. Surfing may not be the best sport he’s ever played, but it’s an entirely different story on the court, where he remains one of the NBA’s elite players today.
